Rui Reis - TERMIS

Dear Participants,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 1^st TERMIS-AM Latin America Workshop in Porto Alegre, Brazil.  The goal of TERMIS has been to foster ways to engage the membership within the emerging countries within the Chapters of the Society.  Latin America, which united with the TERMIS-North America Chapter to form the Americas in 2012 has assisted with highlighting the tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research being conducted within the region. 

We want to thank Dr. Patricia Pranke, Dr. Jorge Silva and their organizing  team for planning a wonderful program that has attracted key leaders in the field.  In addition, we would like to acknowledge Dr. Martha Fontanilla from Colombia and Dr. Maria Margarita Garcia Rizzo from Uruguay as well as Dr. Pranke for collaborating and reaching out to others within the Latin American community on behalf of TERMIS.

Representatives from TERMIS-Americas will be presenting at the workshop:  Dr. William Wagner, Director for the McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Wagner was the Chair of the TERMIS-AM from 2016-2017; Dr. James Yoo from the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

Tenho o prazer de recebê-lo no 1º Workshop TERMIS-AM Latin America em Porto Alegre, Brasil. O objetivo do TERMIS é de promover maneiras de engajar os membros em países emergentes dentro dos Capítulos da Sociedade. A América Latina, que se uniu ao Capítulo TERMIS-América do Norte para formar as Américas em 2012, ajudou a destacar a pesquisa sobre engenharia de tecidos e medicina regenerativa que está sendo realizada na região.

Queremos agradecer à Dra. Patricia Pranke, Dr Jorge Silva e à sua equipe organizadora pelo planejamento de um programa maravilhoso que atraiu os principais líderes da área. Além disso, gostaríamos de agradecer à Dra. Martha Fontanilla, da Colômbia, e à Dra. Maria Margarita Garcia Rizzo, do Uruguai, bem como a Dra. Pranke, por colaborar e alcançar outros membros da comunidade latino-americana em nome da TERMIS.
